Mohammad Nadeem Quraishi Opposes Nationwide Medical Store Shutdown

New Delhi: All India Pharmacist Federation National Vice President Mohammad Nadeem Quraishi has strongly opposed the proposed nationwide shutdown of medical stores and medicine services scheduled for 20 May. The Federation highlighted that the current international tensions, particularly following the Iran–America conflict and instability in West Asia, could create a serious medical emergency in India if medicine and healthcare supplies are disrupted.

The Federation emphasized that the ongoing global crisis has already impacted energy supplies, pharmaceutical raw materials, transportation, and essential commodities. Disrupting medicine distribution could severely affect patients dependent on life-saving drugs, including ICU, cancer, cardiac, diabetic, and emergency cases. Mohammad Nadeem Quraishi called on pharmacists to prioritize patient care and avoid actions that could cause shortages or harm public health. The Federation also referenced constitutional rights and laws such as the Essential Services Maintenance Act to assert that pharmacy services must continue uninterrupted. They appealed to governments to engage in dialogue to resolve issues without impacting essential services.
