Mrigashree Baruah: A Voice of Grace, Purpose, and Representation

From the culturally rich town of Tezpur,Assam to the national stage of Miss Grand India, Mrigashree Baruah’s journey is a compelling blend of intellect, artistry, and social commitment. Rooted in strong academic foundations and driven by a deep sense of purpose, she represents a new generation of young women who balance tradition with ambition.

Mrigashree began her academic journey at St. Joseph’s Convent Higher Secondary School, Tezpur, where she developed discipline and a passion for excellence early in life. She went on to pursue her graduation in Political Science from Cotton University, one of Assam’s most prestigious institutions, before stepping into the field of law at NEF Law College, Guwahati. Her academic path reflects not just a pursuit of knowledge, but a commitment to understanding society, governance, and justice.

Parallel to her education, Mrigashree has carved a remarkable identity in the world of performing arts and public engagement since the age of 16. A trained classical and folk dancer and accomplished artist, she has also established herself as a professional anchor of national repute. With over 500 shows hosted in just seven years, she stands among the youngest state anchors to have had the honour of hosting for esteemed dignitaries including the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Home Minister of India, as well as international embassies. Her commanding stage presence, eloquence, and cultural sensitivity have made her a sought-after voice across government and corporate platforms.

Her artistic journey extends into classical theatre, where she has performed as an actor, using the medium to express deeper social narratives. Beyond the stage, her commitment to social causes is equally profound. As a former President of the Interact Club under Rotary International District 3240 and an active young speaker within the Rotary network, she has consistently worked toward community development. She is also associated with the Human Rights International Federation, advocating for fundamental rights and social justice.

Mrigashree’s advocacy centers on child education and the moral well-being of children, strongly aligned with the principles of the POCSO Act. Her work in this domain has earned her recognition, including the Corona Warrior Award and the Global Icon Award for her contributions to social welfare during challenging times.

Now, as Miss Grand Assam, Mrigashree Baruah is all set to represent her state at Miss Grand India 2026, scheduled to be held in Delhi from 30th April to 12th May. She carries with her not just personal ambition, but the spirit, culture, and identity of Assam and the greater Northeast. Her vision is clear—to bring national attention to the region’s rich heritage, its philosophical depth, and its vibrant diversity.

With elegance in expression, strength in purpose, and clarity in vision, Mrigashree stands poised to make a meaningful impact on the national stage, embodying both the pride of Assam and the promise of a progressive India.
