2014 month of March, HAL and Dassault signed a work share agreement to manage licensed manufacture. But deal was on hold till after the the Indian general election in April–May 2014, the National Democratic Alliance led by Bharatiya Janata Party took control of the government.
In 2015, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the New Refined landmark defense deal with French aviation company Dassault to buy 36 Rafale fighter jets to refurbish India's rusting air force.
At Ambala first batch of 'game-changing' Rafale fighter jets had landed at Ambala, and inducted into the Indian Air Force, officials have said. The All Rafale jets left the Merignac airbase in French port city of Bordeaux on Monday, and arrived in India after covering a distance of nearly 7,000 km.
India receives all 36 Rafale aircraft from France with last one landing in country on December 15.15-Dec-2022.
Rafale is fitted with two Snecma M88 engines, each capable of providing up to 50 kilonewtons (11,000 pounds-force) of dry thrust and 75 kN (17,000 lbf) with afterburners.
The speciality of the Dassault Rafale Jet is armed with an extensive arsenal and designed to carry out air superiority, interdiction, aerial surveillance, ground support, in-depth attack, anti-ship strike, and nuclear deterrence missions. According to Dassault, the Rafale is an “omnirole” aircraft.
