Rengali Damsite P.S. Case No. 127/2026 dated 08.06.2026 U/S 310(4)/310(5) BNS & 25 Arms Act



On the basis of a reliable intelligence input received during the intervening night of 07/08.06.2026 regarding the presence of an armed gang near the boundary wall of the OPTCL Grid, Rengali, allegedly making preparations to commit dacoity, a police team of Rengali Damsite Police Station led by ASI Trinath Dehury conducted a raid at the spot.



During the operation, three persons were apprehended, while a few of their associates managed to escape taking advantage of darkness. The police team recovered and seized a country-made pistol, one live cartridge, an iron cutting machine, a billhook knife, a Dzire car bearing Registration No. OD-02-CF-5247, cash amounting to Rs. 74,950/-, five mobile phones and other incriminating articles from their possession.



The circumstances in which the accused persons were found, along with the weapons and implements recovered from them, indicate that they had assembled and made preparations for the commission of dacoity.



During interrogation, the arrested persons disclosed their alleged involvement in the theft of copper coils and transformer oil from the OPTCL Grid premises at Rengali, relating to Rengali Damsite P.S. Case No. 119/2026 U/S 303(2) BNS, registered on the report of Shri Kapilendra Bhoi, SDO, OPTCL Grid, Rengali Damsite. Further investigation into their involvement in the said case is in progress.

3. Rabinarayan Garnaik @ Rabi, Village Domuhani, P.S. Parjang, District Dhenkanal.
