Special Report on World Environment Day: Environment is Not Just a Subject, It is Our Existence

Special Report on World Environment Day: Environment is Not Just a Subject, It is Our Existence
Presented by: Tariq Shah, President, NGO "Jiyo Aur Jeene Do"
**Date:** June 5, 2026
### 1. Introduction: Environment—The Matter of Our Life and Existence
Often, people view the environment merely as trees, plants, or weather. However, the reality is that the environment is not just a subject; it is a matter of our very life and the existence of every living being on this planet. Whether it is the creatures walking on land, the birds flying in the sky, or the aquatic species breathing underwater—the lives of all depend entirely on this environment.
> "The right to live belongs not just to humans, but to every element of nature. As long as they are safe, we are safe."
>
### 2. Trees and Water: The Two Strong Pillars of Life
Two elements play the most crucial role in sustaining our lives:
* **Trees (The Lungs of Nature):** Trees are not merely structures of wood. They are homes to birds, the source of our life-giving oxygen, and their hidden medicinal properties protect our health. Trees are also a source of livelihood for many people. Imagining human life without them is impossible.
* **Water (The Drop of Nectar):** Water is as essential for birds, animals, and plants as it is for humans. Water is the momentum of life, without which both greenery and heartbeats will come to a halt.
### 3. The Current Crisis: Human Mistakes and Earth Becoming a Garbage Dump
Today, it is deeply regrettable to say that due to human greed and mistakes, these invaluable assets stand on the brink of destruction. We have turned our own life-giving Earth into a massive garbage dump of waste and plastic. Rivers are being polluted, forests are being cut down, and the air is becoming toxic. The time to wake up is now, otherwise, future generations will have nothing left to live on.
### 4. Essential Steps for Environmental Protection (Our Action Plan)
To protect the Earth, we need solid action on the ground, not just words. The organization **"Jiyo Aur Jeene Do"** calls upon everyone to work on these key points:
* **Cleaning Our Surroundings:** First and foremost, we must keep our immediate environment clean. Preventing the spread of filth is our primary responsibility.
* **Boycott of Packaged and Plastic Goods:** We must immediately stop using single-use plastic, polythene, and plastic bottles.
* **Protection of Water Bodies:** No waste or chemicals should be dumped into water sources. In particular, plastic bottles and polythene choke aquatic life; this must be completely stopped.
* **Preventing Forest Fires:** Forest fires not only reduce trees to ashes but also burn wildlife alive. We must remain extremely vigilant against this.
* **Caution in Hilly Areas:** Tourists and locals in hilly and sensitive zones must act with utmost care so that the fragile ecosystem there is not disrupted.
* **A Life of Dignity for Wildlife:** Protecting forest life is our duty. Every species must get adequate space on this planet to live with their full dignity.
### 5. Our Pledge: 365 Days, Not Just 1 Day!
Environmental concern should not be limited to posting on social media or planting a single sapling on June 5th. The core mission of **"Jiyo Aur Jeene Do"** is to remain conscious of our environment 365 days a year. We must instill these habits in our children from today, so they grow up with a pledge to protect the environment. When children are aware from childhood, only then in the future:
* The air will be clean, and we will be able to breathe freely.
* Water will be pure, quenching the thirst of every living being.
* The land will become plastic-free and breathe a sigh of relief again.
* Leaves, plants, trees, and aquatic creatures will remain a part of this co-existence with full joy and dignity.
### 6. Conclusion
Come, this World Environment Day, let us all take an oath that we will not destroy this Earth, but nurture it. Let us take a step forward together—live and let every creature of this nature live with dignity.
> "Clean air, pure water, prosperous forests — this is the story of a secure life."
