Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry Hosts Felicitation and Interactive Session with Ambassador of Iceland

Kolkata, 4th June 2026: The Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BNCCI) today organised a Felicitation and Interactive Session with H.E. Mr Benedikt Hoskuldsson, Ambassador of Iceland to India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, at the BNCCI Auditorium in Kolkata.

The programme brought together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, academicians and members of the Chamber to engage in a meaningful dialogue on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation between India and Iceland.

The session commenced with the National Anthems of Iceland and India, followed by the felicitation of the Ambassador. Delivering the welcome address, Shri Ashoke Kumar Banik, President, BNCCI, highlighted the importance of fostering international partnerships and expanding trade, investment and knowledge exchange opportunities.

A keynote address was delivered by Shri Satyam Roychowdhury, Chancellor, Sister Nivedita University and Former President, BNCCI, who underscored the significance of global collaboration in education, innovation and industry.

The programme also featured the screening of “White Iceland”, a short film presented by Shri Ritwik Das, Chairman, Industry & Foreign Trade Committee, BNCCI, offering participants a glimpse into Iceland’s unique landscape, culture and economic strengths.

Addressing the gathering, H.E. Mr Benedikt Hoskuldsson shared valuable insights into Iceland’s economic landscape, sustainable development initiatives, renewable energy expertise and opportunities for collaboration with Indian businesses and institutions. The interactive session that followed enabled participants to engage directly with the Ambassador and discuss areas of mutual interest.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Ritwik Das, Chairman, Industry & Foreign Trade Committee, BNCCI.

The programme reaffirmed BNCCI’s commitment to promoting international engagement and creating platforms for meaningful dialogue between global stakeholders and the business community of Eastern India.
