Mysuru Leaders Honor Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar's Legacy

Mysuru, June 04: Legislative Council Member C.N. Manjegowda has urged the State Government to actively introduce the life and achievements of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar to younger generations through commemorative programmes and educational initiatives. Speaking at a birth anniversary celebration organized by Karnataka Sena Pade near the Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Mysuru, Manjegowda paid floral tributes to the visionary ruler and described him as one of the greatest Maharajas in Mysuru's history. He noted that Nalwadi's contributions to the state's development continue to inspire generations.

Highlighting his achievements, Manjegowda said Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar played a pivotal role in establishing landmark institutions and infrastructure projects such as the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam, the University of Mysore, and the Shivanasamudra Hydroelectric Power Station. Rather than pursuing territorial expansion, he dedicated his reign to public welfare, education, and economic development. Addressing the gathering, Karnataka Sena Pade President Tejesh Lokesh Gowda called for the inclusion of Nalwadi's life and accomplishments in school textbooks. He also appealed to the Central Government to confer the Bharat Ratna on the former Mysuru ruler posthumously in recognition of his outstanding contributions to society and nation-building.

As part of the celebrations, A.P. Nagesh, President of APN Properties, distributed Mysore Pak to tourists. Senior social worker Dr. Raghuram K. Vajpayee and several other dignitaries also participated in the programme. The event was attended by representatives from various organizations, social activists, community leaders, and members of the public, who paid homage to the ruler widely remembered as the architect of modern Mysuru.
