29 Years Behind the Camera: Doordarshan's Jayant G. Honoured with Prestigious Rajarshi Nalwadi Award

Mysuru, June 3: In recognition of nearly three decades of dedicated journalism, senior Doordarshan correspondent Jayant G. has been selected for the prestigious 'Rajarshi Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar' Award for 2026 by the Mysuru District Administration, under the Electronic Media category. Jayant G. has been serving as a reporter for Doordarshan in Mysuru district for the past 29 years, and this honour is a tribute to his unwavering commitment to public broadcasting and ground-level reporting that has stood the test of time.

This is far from his first recognition. In 2024, he was conferred the Karnataka Media Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award — the highest honour the state government bestows upon individuals in the media field. He has also been awarded the Best Electronic Media Report Award by the Mysuru District Journalists' Association four times, in the category of best reporting on human values. In 2015, the same association recognised his continuous service by presenting him with the Senior Electronic Journalist Honour.

The district administration had previously felicitated him with the District Rajyotsava Award in 2019, acknowledging his role as one of Mysuru's most senior and respected electronic media journalists. Now, with the 2026 Rajarshi Nalwadi Award, the district administration has once again reaffirmed that Jayant G.'s decades of service to journalism remain as relevant and celebrated as ever.
