Kewal Singh Dhillon to Lead BJP in Punjab; Party Workers Give Warm Reception at Tikshan Sood’s Residence
Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/June 2
Senior BJP leader and former cabinet minister Tikshan Sood said that after being appointed as the party’s new state president, Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon visited Sood’s residence in Hoshiarpur on his first round of meetings with workers. Party workers gave Sardar Dhillon a grand welcome at the event.
Addressing the gathering, workers expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Aam Aadmi Party government, saying it has failed badly in Punjab. They accused the government of not fulfilling promises made to the public and said law and order in the state has deteriorated significantly. Once considered a leading state, Punjab has fallen to 18th place, they said, adding that Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana have surged ahead thanks to “double-engine” governments.
They blamed the AAP’s policies for pushing Punjab into a financial crisis and urged that these problems will be resolved only when a BJP government is formed in the state. They also promised that a BJP government would guarantee Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 24 crops to farmers.
