Hoshiarpur/June 1/Daljeet Ajnoha
— Under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Mandeep Kamal, a three-day district-level training was organised in multiple batches for all Community Health Officers (CHOs) in the district on the use of diagnostic kits and strengthening maternal and child health (MCH) and non-communicable disease (NCD) services.
Speaking about the programme, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mandeep Kamal said the primary objective of the training is to improve the quality of health services at the grassroots level and further strengthen services available at Ayushman Arogya Centres. He added that the training will help make primary-level healthcare delivery more effective. District Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia, DDH (U) Dr. Kapil Dogra, SMO Dr. Navjot Singh, SMO Dr. Neha Pal, District Mass Media Officer Tarsem Lal, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ravinder Jassal and other staff members were present on the occasion.
District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ranjit Singh said that various measures are being taken to ensure faster and more effective delivery of health services. As part of these efforts, CHOs were given detailed training on the use of diagnostic kits, antenatal and postnatal check-ups, maternal and child health (MCH), the Comprehensive Care Package (CCP) and NCD strengthening.
He noted that the training will enable initial screening and investigations to be carried out locally, saving patients’ time and enabling prompt initiation of appropriate treatment. The initiative is an important step towards making Ayushman Arogya Centres more effective.
Pathologist Dr. Vishali Sharma said CHOs were instructed in detail on correct sample collection techniques, testing procedures and accurate interpretation of results. She noted that the diagnostic kits will greatly simplify and speed up the diagnostic process, thereby improving the quality of healthcare services.
District Programme Manager Asif Mohammad said the training will be conducted over three days in different batches to ensure all Community Health Officers have a good learning opportunity. He added that the programme will not only speed up patient care but also make health services more scientific and results-oriented.
On the occasion, Davinder Singh, Project Manager (WHP), and Rajinder Kumar, NCD Consultant, provided detailed information on tuberculosis in children.
