Akot Municipal Council Faces 18-Year Delay in Guthewari Case

Akot: A Guthewari regularization proposal submitted by Mohammad Ghazi Karammulla Mohammad Afsarulla has been pending for nearly 18 years due to alleged administrative delay and negligence by the Akot Municipal Council. The proposal for a one-guntha plot from Survey No. 80/2 was submitted on November 30, 2008, approved by the council in January 2009, and forwarded to the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Akot. The SDO returned it in June 2009 citing deficiencies, after which no significant action was taken by either office.

In March 2018, a fire reportedly destroyed records related to the case in the Akot Municipal Council's record section. Chief Officer Geeta Thakare filed a complaint with the Akot Police Station, but the specific records destroyed were not detailed. Despite RTI Appellate Authority orders directing the council to reconstruct the records and resubmit the proposal, no effective steps have been taken. Citizens and the applicant have expressed concerns over the council's administrative functioning and demanded intervention by senior district and state authorities.
