Road or Drain? When Will Udhampur City Get Rid of Filth: "Jiyo Aur Jeene Do" NGO Raises Questions

UDHAMPUR: Social organization "Jiyo Aur Jeene Do" has expressed deep concern over the poor sanitation and crumbling infrastructure in Udhampur city. Representatives of the organization inspected the deplorable condition of the main route leading from Jakhani to Omala and raised serious questions about the local administration's performance.
In an official statement, the organization noted that the main Jakhani-Omala road has been completely broken for a long time. Due to a total lack of proper drainage, it currently resembles a filthy drain rather than a road. Sewage and drain water remain constantly logged on the street, making it nearly impossible for local residents and commuters to even walk.
Playing with School Children's Future and Health: "Jiyo Aur Jeene Do" specifically highlighted that hundreds of young children use this route daily to attend school. It is highly unfortunate that these innocent children are forced to wade through this dirty water, ruining their uniforms just to reach school. This accumulation of filth poses a massive risk of epidemics and infectious diseases, yet the administration remains a silent spectator.
Demand for Immediate Action: The organization strongly urges the District Administration and Municipal Council Udhampur to intervene immediately. They must repair the Jakhani-Omala road, clean the clogged drains, and ensure a permanent drainage solution. If the public and school children are not given immediate relief from these hellish conditions, the organization will be forced to launch a public protest.
