MLA Bram Shanker Jimpa held a meeting with National Highways Authority of India officials with a view to emphasising immediate repair of Hoshiarpur Jalandhar roads and road from Hoshiarpur towards Una and Chohal to facilitate commuter.

Holding meeting at local District Administrative Complex, MLA Bram Shanker Jimpa stressed that immediate action should be initiated to improve the condition of Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road. He said that roads falling under the jurisdiction of NHAI should be made proper motorable in larger public interests. MLA Jimpa said that there is a dire need for major improvement in the condition of the roads, which should be done on priority basis. He said that the potholes on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road should be repaired to ensure easy transportation facilities. He said that the Punjab government had incurred more than Rs. 15 crore to improve the pitiable condition of this road and the state government would extend all requisite support and cooperation to the authority for further improvement.

The MLA asked the officials of the Authority to prepare this road on priority so that a large number of traffic could be facilitated. He said that the district administration will provide all necessary support to the Authority. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had recently also taken up the matter of construction and repair of Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur-Chohal and Jalandhar-Una roads with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari who assured to resolve all road issues in time to come.

MLA Jimpa said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is working zealously to make the infrastructure of the state world class. He said that the construction and repair of more than 45,000 km of roads is going on on a war footing to strengthen the road network in the state. He said that the government has implemented strict rules emphasizing on the quality and durability of the roads. He clarified that if any damage is caused to the road for the next 5 years after the construction of the road, then the entire responsibility of its repair will be with the concerned contractor. He said that continuous monitoring has also been made to ensure transparency and high quality in the construction work. He said that Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain is continuously holding meetings with the officials of the Autjority ​​​​to review the steps being taken to improve the condition of these roads and he himself is also holding the sixth meeting so that the roads could be made motorable as early as possible.
