It is everyone's duty to promote Kannada on the border - Prakash Deshmukh

Bidar: Resource teacher Prakash Deshmukh said that it is the primary duty of every Kannadigas to preserve and develop the Kannada language and culture on the border.

He delivered a special lecture on 'Survival of Kannada on the Border' organized by Karnataka Vidyavardhaka Sangha Dharwad and Bidar district unit at Anand High School in Santpura village of Aura taluk on Tuesday.

The number of Kannada schools on the border is decreasing and the influence of English medium is increasing, which is a worrying development. The government and society should work together for the survival of Kannada language. He opined that Kannada schools should be strengthened, teachers should be recruited, libraries should be established and literary and cultural programs should be given priority.

Speaking after inaugurating the program, lecturer Dattatri Madiwala said that Karnataka Vidyavardhaka Sangha of Dharwad is a leading cultural and educational organization of the country and is making a significant contribution to the development of Kannada language, literature and culture.

District Coordinator Mahesh Goranalkar, who presided over the event, said that the youth should give more emphasis to the use of Kannada along with respecting other languages. He said that the habit of speaking Kannada with children at home should be developed. He assured that various literary and cultural programs of the Sangha will be organized to preserve and develop the pluralistic culture of Kannada in the border area.

Speaking to Karnataka State Wildlife Board member Vinay Kumar Mala, he said that along with the development of the Kannada language, environmental protection is also everyone's responsibility.

Speaking, litterateur and journalist Balaji Kumbara said that comprehensive discussions should be held on Kannada language, culture and literature in Aurad, which is a multilingual confluence, and that the government's attention needs to be drawn to the survival of Kannada.

On this occasion, dance, drama and singing programs performed by students attracted the attention of the audience.

The program was attended by education enthusiast Anil Patil Dhupata Mahagaon, lawyer Pyarusab Sheikh, teachers Raja Reddy, Malaswamy, Sheelavathi, Kalpana, Umakantha, Bhimashankar Vairagya, Ravi Chavan, Karan and many others.
