Mysore Vasudevacharya Birth Anniversary to Be Celebrated on May 28
Mysuru, May 27: A special programme marking the birth anniversary of renowned composer and musician Mysore Vasudevacharya will be held on May 28 at 10.30 am at Bidaram Krishnappa’s Rama Mandira on Narayana Shastri Road. The event is being jointly organised by Bidaram Krishnappa’s Prasanna Seetharama Mandira and the Department of Kannada and Culture, said MLA T.S. Srivatsa while addressing reporters in the city.
Srivatsa said he would inaugurate the programme, which will feature “Vasudeva Vaggeya Vaibhava,” a musical presentation by noted musician Dr. T.S. Sathyavathi and troupe.
The vocal concert will feature performances by Archana Bhoj, Shilpa Shashidhar, Anjana P. Rao and Lavanya Krishnamurthy. Aditi Krishnaprakash will accompany on violin, while Prof. G.S. Ramanujam will perform on the mridangam. Srivatsa described Mysore Vasudevacharya as one of Karnataka’s greatest musicians and said the government-supported event aims to honour and preserve his musical legacy. The programme will also include discussions and analysis of his compositions.
In addition, a separate concert featuring the compositions of Mysore Vasudevacharya by Sukanya Prabhakar will be held the same evening at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha. Music lovers have been invited to attend the events in large numbers. Srinivasamurthy, Yoganandan and Ravishankar were also present during the press interaction.
