Chhayanaut (Kolkata) Hosts Nazrul Puraskar Award Ceremony
Kolkata, May 26, 2026 — Chhayanaut (Kolkata) organized the prestigious "Nazrul Puraskar" award ceremony yesterday, May 25, 2026, to celebrate the literary and musical legacy of Kazi Nazrul Islam. The event took place at the Upendrakishore Sabhaghar within the Jogen Chowdhury Center for Arts, located opposite South City Mall.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 'Nazrul Puraskar 2026' to Bidushi Anusua Mukhopadhyay, recognizing her significant contributions to the arts. The program was conceptualized and directed by Somnata Mallick.
The event featured a rich cultural tapestry of performances:
Solo Performances: A talented group of artists including Surajit Sen, Rajashree Basu, Ashisbaran Mallick, Sanchita Mitra, Sharmistha Ray, Chitra Som Basu, Tanushree Adhikari, Mitali Bhattacharya, Chayanika Chattopadhyay, Aishani Majumdar, Aryadyuti Ghosh, and Arghadyuti Ghosh mesmerized the audience.
Special Presentation: A distinct performance titled "Shabdabihanga" was presented by Susmita Sengupta and Rakhi Patra Naskar.
Group Performances: Various esteemed organizations added depth to the evening, including Bisher Bashi, Kathashilpa Abritti Charcha Kendra, Nabamurchana, Kabyarpan, Kabitar Sathi, Rita Music Academy, and Shrutisheli (Mahishadal, Purba Medinipur).
The evening also included a Shruti Natak (audio drama) titled "Nargis o Nazrul," with Shruti Natyarup by Tanay De Biswas, and a Srijan (creative) segment presented by Tanay De Biswas and Kakali Brahmachari.
The event concluded as a heartfelt tribute to the "Rebel Poet," bringing together art enthusiasts and performers for an evening of cultural celebration.
