Anil Kant IPS Appointed as Director General of Police in Kerala State . Anil Kant's was one of the three names shortlisted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) from a longer list sent by the state government. 

Anil Kant is a 1988 batch IPS officer from Delhi. He started his Wayanad service as an ASP in the Kerala cadre and worked as an SP in Thiruvananthapuram Rural and Railways. He then became Assistant Director at the Intelligence Bureau in New Delhi and Shillong.

On his return, he worked as the Kochi City Police Commissioner and as the SP in Malappuram and Ernakulam Crime Branch. He is the first Scheduled Caste to become the Chief of Police in Kerala.
