Dhubri: Strict Enforcement of Assam Cattle Preservation Act in 2021

Dhubri: On 24th May 2026, an awareness meeting was held at the Chapar Police Station with the cooperation of the Officer-in-Charge. The meeting included the Circle Organizer and VDP Secretaries from all villages under Chapar Police Station jurisdiction. The discussion centered around the Assam Cattle Preservation Act passed in 2021, which is being strictly enforced in Dhubri district this year.

Dhubri: Following a meeting on May 20, 2026, involving the District Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, Eidgah Committee, Mosque Committees, and citizens, it was decided that no cattle or buffalo slaughter or sacrifice would be permitted in the district. However, sacrifices of goats, sheep, rams, or other small animals remain allowed. In 2025, attempts to disrupt communal harmony occurred during Eid-ul-Adha when severed cattle heads and meat were dumped in a Hindu-majority area and Tample. The Chief Minister and DGP intervened, ordering shoot-on-sight directives against illegal beef trade. The district administration is taking stringent measures this year to prevent similar incidents.
