BJD RALLY AT KOLNARA BLOCK
For the respect, protection and rights of women, a huge walk was organized by Biju Janata Dal at Kolnara regarding the Bisamcuttack constituency of Rayagada district. Under the leadership of Kolnara District Council member Mr. #IPili_Dableswar_Naidu thousands of workers and common people gathered and raised their voice demanding protection and preservation of women. Later, a memorandum of intention was given to the President through the Collector. 💚
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, who is talking big things about "women power" in parliament, has not yet implemented the Women Reservation Bill passed in 2023. Women's rights are being pushed back by showing the help of census and border reshuffling.
Where Biju Janata Dal had set a strong example of women empowerment by giving 50% reservation for women in panchayats and municipalities a year ago, BJP has limited reservation for women only in election slogans.
Following the ideals of Biju Babu, BJD has always fought for the rights, respect and protection of women. From 50% reservation in Panchayat to giving 33% ticket in Lok Sabha, BJD has always given priority to women empowerment.
But sadly, today the incidence of oppression, sexual harassment and violence on women is increasing in Odisha. This is a matter of concern and shame for an entire state. State government should immediately take strong steps for the protection and respect of women.
BJD District President Mr. Jagannath Saraka, State Vice President Mr. Sudhir Kumar Das, District Council President Kumari Saraswati Majhi, State General Secretary Mrs. Subhra Panda, Senior Leader Santosh Patra, Ambika Bidika, Summi Himrika and many other leaders participated. The presence of more than 700 workers of Youth, Students and Mahila Janata Dal made this movement more powerful. 💚
🔹 Biju Babu started 33% reservation for women in Panchayat and Urban institutions in 1991.
🔹Naveen Patnaik did it 50% after the government.
🔹 In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJD had given tickets to female candidates in 7 out of 21 seats.
🔹 In 2023 BJD had issued three-line whip in Rajya Sabha in favor of Women Reservation Bill.
🔹 BJD's demand, immediately 33% women reservation should be implemented based on the current number of seats.
