Protest on the 25th demanding new pensions and a reduction in increased property Tax... Y.Vikram, CPM Khammam division secretary...

Khammam, 22 May 2026:
CPM Khammam division secretary V. Vikram urged people to make the protest on the 25th a success, demanding new pensions and a reduction in the increased property taxes.
Speaking at the party’s two-town committee meeting held on Friday at Sundarayya Bhavan, V. Vikram said the state government should immediately provide new pensions to eligible people as promised in the elections. He demanded that pensions be raised from Rs. 2,016 to Rs. 4,016 and that the increased property taxes in Khammam town be reduced. He criticized the BRS government for not providing new pensions earlier and said the Congress had promised before the elections that it would give new pensions and increase the pension amount once in power, but even after two-and-a-half years in office it has not given the new pensions. He alleged that the promise to provide pensions to those aged 57 and above has also not been implemented.
Vikram said thousands of eligible people in Khammam constituency are waiting for pensions. He demanded that the Revanth Reddy government immediately implement its promise to raise pensions from Rs. 2,016 to Rs. 4,016 as soon as it comes to power. He warned that officials should not remove eligible people from the list under the pretext of verification. He alleged that pension inspections are being conducted at a few former corporators’ houses by some officials and demanded that the commissioner take immediate action against those officials. He also demanded that officials go and verify the homes where pensions are being received.
Vikram said the increased property taxes in Khammam town have imposed a heavy financial burden on people and must be reduced immediately. He expressed concern that ordinary middle-class residents are shocked when they see the property tax bills. He urged people to participate in large numbers and make the Monday protest at the corporation office a success. Present at the meeting were party two-town secretary Bodapatla Sudarshan, J. Venkanna Babu, C.H. Bhadram, Upendra Nayak, Macha Suryam, Ravindra, Hussain, Shafi, Rajesh and others.
