AITC to Protest Forceful Eviction of Hawkers in West Bengal
West Bengal: On 21st May, the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) announced plans to launch protests against the forceful eviction of hawkers and the bulldozer culture reportedly unleashed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state. The protests will take place near key locations including Howrah Station, Sealdah Station, and near Ballygunge.
The move by AITC highlights ongoing tensions between the two parties regarding the treatment of street vendors. The party aims to oppose the BJP's actions, which they describe as aggressive and detrimental to the livelihoods of local hawkers in these prominent areas of West Bengal.
