Preliminary pre-Lok Adalats have begun at district and sub-division levels in Hoshiarpur in preparation for a Special Lok Adalat scheduled to be held at the Supreme Court in August 2026. CJM-cum-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Neeraj Goyal, said these pre-Lok Adalats are being organized under the leadership of Sessions Judge and District Judge Rajinder Aggarwal.
According to officials, the Supreme Court of India launched a resolution campaign on April 21, 2026, which will culminate in a Special Lok Adalat in August. Following directions from the Member Secretary of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, district legal services authorities have been instructed to hold pre-Lok Adalats to help resolve cases pending before the Supreme Court through mutual settlement.
The DLSA has received a list of cases related to Hoshiarpur district that are pending in the Supreme Court, forwarded through its principal office in S.A.S. Nagar. Notices and summons have been issued to both parties in these matters to facilitate amicable settlements.
Under the supervision of District and Sessions Judge Rajinder Aggarwal, the district legal services authority will continue holding pre-Lok Adalats through May 31, 2026. Once parties reach agreements in these sessions, reports will be sent to the principal office in S.A.S. Nagar so the cases can be finally disposed of at the Special Lok Adalat scheduled at the Supreme Court on August 21, 22 and 23, 2026.
The authority has appealed to residents whose cases are pending in the Supreme Court to make full use of the pre-Lok Adalats. It noted that resolving disputes through mutual settlement saves time and money and fosters goodwill and harmony between parties.
