The upgraded M. K. Tata Memorial Learning Centre for the Visually Challenged at TISS, now equipped with state-of-the-art assistive technologies, enhances learning opportunities for all students, including those with visual impairment. The inauguration on 14 May 2026 was attended by Mr. Labanyendu Prasad Parhi (Chief General Manager, IDBI Bank), Mr. Babu Lal Gehlot (General Manager, IDBI Bank), Prof. Anil Sutar (Dean, Doctoral Students Office & Chairperson, Library Advisory Committee), Dr. Narendra Mishra (Officiating Registrar), Prof. Bipin Jojo (Dean, School of Social Work & Equal Opportunities Cell, TISS), Dr. Satish Kanamadi (Librarian), and Dr. Anand Dodamani (Deputy Librarian).
The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, unveiling of the donor plaque, and live demonstrations of advanced assistive technologies by the library team and students with visual impairment. Dr. Anand Dodamani highlighted the journey of the Centre from its establishment in 2008 with support from the M. K. Tata Memorial Trust to its upgraded, inclusive form today, made possible by IDBI Banks CSR initiative.
In their addresses, Dr. Satish Kanamadi acknowledged the Librarys ongoing efforts to incorporate evolving assistive technologies, Mr. Labanyendu Prasad Parhi praised the projects execution and pledged continued support, and Mr. Babu Lal Gehlot encouraged students to make full use of the enhanced facilities. Prof. Bipin Jojo and Dr. Narendra Mishra emphasised the importance of periodic upgrades and socially relevant initiatives in fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Prof. Anil Sutar congratulated the Library Team for conceptualising and implementing this initiative and appreciated IDBI Banks longstanding support for student welfare, education, and skill development at TISS.
The event reflected the collective commitment of TISS faculty, administration, students, and staff to accessibility, inclusion, and equitable learning opportunities for all. A heartfelt thanks to IDBI Bank for their generous CSR support in making this initiative possible.
