Aura Town Panchayat Officials Neglect Drainage, Causing Flood Damage
Aura: Former minister and MLA Prabhu Chavan instructed the town panchayat officials to clean clogged drains immediately. However, due to their inaction, rainwater that fell late on Thursday night entered the Rampure clothing shop near the town bus stand and a neighboring shop, flooding clothes worth approximately 3 to 4 lakhs.
Residents of Aura town have criticized the misuse of government funds and failure to maintain proper roads and drainage systems. Panchayat officer MD Sami has not responded to complaints despite roads in many wards overflowing with sewage water. Citizens have appealed to senior officials for the transfer of Panchayat staff and appointment of a responsible health inspector. Lokesh Rampure, owner of the affected clothing shop, urged the ICT Collector to address the issue and ensure payment of 18 months' salaries to civic workers and grants for road drain construction.
