MCCI to Host Session on Transforming Statistical System

Kolkata: The Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) will hold a special session titled “Transforming the Statistical System with the Vision of Viksit Bharat” on May 14, 2026. The event will take place at the MCCI Conference Hall, Hemanta Basu Sarani, Kolkata, starting at 4:00 PM.

Dr. Saurabh Garg, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, will deliver the keynote address. The session, led by MCCI President Priti A. Sureka and members of the Chamber’s committee, aims to discuss the modernization of India’s statistical framework and the role of data-driven governance in realizing the vision of “Viksit Bharat.” Industry leaders, policymakers, academicians, and business representatives are expected to participate. This initiative highlights MCCI’s ongoing efforts to foster dialogue on national development and economic transformation as it celebrates 125 years of contribution to business growth and policy engagement in Eastern India.
