Himanta Biswa Sarma Meets Assam Governor, Stakes Claim to Form New BJP-Led Government

Leader of the BJP Legislature Party and the NDA Legislature Party in Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, met Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya in Guwahati and formally staked claim to form the next government in the state. The move follows his election as leader of the BJP-NDA legislature parties. Sarma is set to be sworn in as Chief Minister on May 12 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
