Chennai, May 10 AIMA Media Update News: A brand-new chapter has begun in the political history of Tamil Nadu. TVK (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) chief Chandrasekhar Joseph Vijay has been sworn in as the Chief Minister. Along with Vijay, nine MLAs took the oath as ministers. Governor Rajendra Arlekar administered the oath of office to Vijay at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai, an event attended by prominent figures including senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Having emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections by securing 108 seats, the TVK required the support of 10 additional MLAs to form the government. While the Congress and subsequently the Left parties extended their support early on, the VCK and IUML also announced their support yesterday following a period of intense suspense. With the backing of its allies, the TVK reached the majority mark of 120 seats, prompting Governor Rajendra Arlekar to appoint Vijay as the Chief Minister. The Governor has directed him to prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly by May 13.
