RLD Leader Mohammad Anees Choudhary Condemns Threats Against Social Activists; Demands "Protective Legislation"
JAMMU & KASHMIR Mohammad Anees Choudhary, General Secretary of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and a prominent voice within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has issued a stern statement regarding the increasing intimidation of whistleblowers and social workers in the region.
Choudhary highlighted a disturbing trend: whenever a leader, social activist, or RTI activist raises their voice against irregularities in government offices or schools, they are met with threats of false FIRs and physical intimidation.
The Core Issue: Silencing the Voice of the Poor
According to Choudhary, activists serve as the bridge between the "Gareeb Awam" (the poor public) and justice. When corruption is exposed in public institutions, those involved often use their influence to bully the activists.
"It is a matter of grave concern that those fighting for transparency are being silenced through fear. When an activist stands up against wrongdoing in a school or a government department, the response shouldn't be a threatit should be an investigation into the complaint."
Mohammad Anees Choudhary
The Demand for New Reform
Choudhary emphasized that the current legal framework is insufficient to protect those on the front lines of social justice. He has called for the implementation of a special protection law designed specifically for:
Political Leaders advocating for public rights.
Social Activists & Workers investigating grassroots issues.
RTI Activists exposing administrative corruption.
Key Highlights of the Statement:Feature Description
The Problem Activists face "FIR threats" for exposing systemic failures.
The Victim The common citizen, whose voice is suppressed when their representative is silenced.
The Solution A dedicated law to ensure activists can work without fear of retaliation.

The RLD General Secretary urged the government to recognize that a healthy democracy thrives on accountability. Choudhary concluded by asserting that the NDA-led vision involves a corruption-free India, which can only be achieved if the "Watchdogs of Society" are safe and protected by the law.
