Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan To Be The Next Chief Of The Indian Navy
New Delhi, May 9, AIMA Media Update News: The Central Government has appointed Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan as the next Chief of the Indian Navy (Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS)). Swaminathan is set to assume charge, succeeding the current Navy Chief, Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi. Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi is scheduled to retire on May 31, 2026. Subsequently, Krishna Swaminathan will take over the responsibilities on the very same day. He is expected to remain in office until December 31, 2028. Currently, he serves as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command, based in Mumbai.
Swaminathan joined the Indian Navy on July 1, 1987. Throughout his tenure, he specialized in Communications and Electronic Warfare and has held numerous key appointments. Swaminathan pursued his education at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Shrivenham (United Kingdom), the College of Naval Warfare in Karanja, and the United States Naval War College in Newport (Rhode Island). The Indian Ministry of Defence announced this development via a post on the 'X' platform.
