Jaipur hospitals announce strike over 'intimidation' of family members of jailed doctor

JAIPUR: (May 8) Private hospitals and doctors in Jaipur went on an indefinite strike, suspending OPD, IPD and emergency services, after medical organisations alleged assault and intimidation of family members of jailed doctor Sondev Bansal during proceedings related to his bail plea in the Rajasthan High Court on Thursday.

Medical bodies, including the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Jaipur branch announced the boycott on Thursday night, saying the incident has created fear and anger among doctors across the state.

According to the organisations, Bansal's bail plea came up for hearing in the Jaipur bench of the Rajasthan High Court on Thursday during which a group of lawyers allegedly raised slogans and created a ruckus inside the courtroom, leading to adjournment of the matter till May 11.
