Siwan: Historical Violence and Socioeconomic Challenges in Bihar

Siwan Bihar: The region has experienced significant violence and bloodshed since 2003, marked by encounters involving former Member of Parliament and local politicians such as Chandan MLC and Manoj Singh MLC. The incidents included horse firing and clashes resulting in hospital referrals and deaths, reflecting ongoing law and order challenges in the area.

Bihar as a whole has struggled with poverty, with around 40% of the population living below the poverty line. The period described as 'jungle raj' ended around 2010, but socioeconomic disparities remain entrenched between the rich and poor. Dr. Shadab Qasim from the research institute in MM Colony, Siwan, highlights the persistence of crime, corruption, and communal tensions despite efforts toward peace, development, and cultural preservation in Bihar.
