Siwan Bihar Teachers Protest Over Irregular Salaries and Corruption Allegations

Siwan Bihar: Regular teachers and principals in the Bihar government education department in Siwan district have faced irregular salary payments for the past three months, leading to protests and accusations of corruption. According to Dr. Sci. Shadab Qasim, principal and member of various human rights and anti-corruption commissions, salaries for over 35,000 teachers remain outstanding, with 2,000 principals across 19 blocks affected. The teachers allege bribes demanded by clerks and officials, causing delays in salary disbursement despite available funds.

The district collector and other officials have been urged to take immediate action against corruption and ensure payments without bribes. The situation has caused significant distress among teachers, with reports of suicides linked to financial hardship and unpaid dues. Complaints and FIRs have been filed citing irregularities, corruption charges, and administrative negligence by the district magistrate and treasury officers. The teachers demand strict enforcement of rules and timely salary payments to prevent further hardship and controversies within the education department.
