Kendujhar: Police Detain Vehicles Over Sand Theft Allegations
Kendujhar: Authorities recently apprehended five vehicles suspected of transporting stolen sand near the mining department area. The vehicles were intercepted following complaints and reports filed under different vehicle names related to sand theft. The crackdown was prompted by the presence of the Additional SP in the area on urgent duty, which prevented some vehicle owners from releasing the trucks.
Following this, mining department officials were informed, leading to the detention of trucks carrying sand from the Utton Giri Gaan sand depot. A local informant from Hatdihi was found involved in coordinating the transport of stolen sand. The informant allegedly obstructed officials by demanding the release of his vehicle and reportedly facilitated the movement of other vehicles despite the ongoing investigation. After intervention from senior police and mining officials, all trucks are now held at Nandipada police station.
The incident has sparked discussions locally about unethical practices including sand theft and unauthorized toll collection near temples. Concerns were raised about some individuals exploiting their positions and the undermining of journalistic integrity due to financial transactions involving the informant. The community expresses that such activities damage public respect and trust.
