Anandpur: Satyabhama Jena Denied Housing Scheme Despite Eligibility

Anandpur: Satyabhama Jena from Zarda village in Anandpur subdivision has been excluded from the housing scheme meant for the poor. Her husband, Akshaya, works as a daily laborer but due to financial constraints, the family continues to live in a thatched hut. They have taken shelter in a temporary house during the recent Kalbaisakhi storms. Akshaya supports the family with his unstable daily wages, often facing hunger and hardship.

Despite being eligible for the housing scheme, Satyabhama’s family was overlooked when other less deserving individuals received houses. Recently, a Panchayat official assured that a house would be allotted to her under the Prime Minister’s housing scheme after taking photos. However, even after others got their houses, Satyabhama remains deprived. This situation highlights the ongoing injustice where poor families like Satyabhama’s are denied while houses are allotted in the names of wealthy individuals. (Report by Vijay Jena)
