The second annual cricket tournament, held in memory of Akali Baba Phulla Singh Ji, kicked off with great fanfare in Ajnoha village today. Organized with support from local residents, the gram panchayat, Non-Resident Indians, and people from the region, the event will run from April 30 to May 2.
Tournament organizers said the inaugural ceremony was conducted by the gram panchayat and village dignitaries. A total of 32 prominent teams from Punjab are participating. The opening match between Pasta and Narangabad saw Pasta emerge victorious.
The winning team will receive ₹51,000 in cash along with a trophy, while the runners-up will get ₹31,000 and a trophy. On the final day, May 2, Dr. Ishank Kumar, the local MLA from Chabbewal, will grace the occasion as chief guest and present awards to the champion and runner-up teams.
Among those present were sarpanch Rajwinder Kaur, Ranjodh Singh, Tajinder Singh of Ajnoha, Talwinder Singh, Jaskaran Singh Sunny, Harjit Singh, Joni from Hoshiarpur, Sagar, Komal, Amanjot, Jyoti, Arwinder Singh, Pawan Kumar from Pasta, Kuldeep, Golu, Sohan Singh (panch), Gurbheet Singh (panch), Mamta Rani (block samiti member), Kiran Kumari (panch), Rajinder Singh Parmar (retd DSP), Jaskaran Singh, Nirmal Singh (numberdar), Ashok Kumar (namberdar), and others.
