Final Phase Of Polling Begins In Bengal Today


Kolkata, April 29, AIMA Media Update News: The final phase(Phase 2)of polling for the Assembly elections in Bengal commenced today. There is widespread interest across the country regarding this crucial stage, which will determine the political future of the state. Polling began at 7:00 AM across a total of 142 Assembly constituencies and is scheduled to continue until 6:00 PM. Voters are flocking to polling stations in large numbers to exercise their franchise.

In this final phase, approximately 3.21 crore voters are set to cast their ballots. People from all walks of life. ranging from the youth to the elderly are participating enthusiastically. The Election Commission has implemented stringent security measures to ensure the polling process is conducted peacefully. In particular, Central Security Forces have been deployed in sensitive areas, and measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incidents.

A total of 1,448 candidates are in the fray in this phase. Along with major political parties, independent candidates are also in the race. Candidates, recognizing the value of every single vote, are expressing confidence in their prospects for victory. Political parties continued their campaigning right up to the end, striving to woo the voters. Election rules and security guidelines are being strictly adhered to at the polling stations. Officials have taken special measures to ensure a comfortable environment for voters; specific facilities have also been made available for persons with disabilities and the elderly. With the final phase of polling taking place today, the election process for the Bengal Assembly is set to conclude. There is widespread interest regarding the results, not only among the people of the state but across the entire nation. As everyone awaits the outcome to see who will emerge victorious, all eyes are now fixed on the vote counting process.

The results for the Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry will be announced on May 4, 2026 (Monday). According to the schedule released by the Election Commission of India, the counting of votes will commence at 8:00 AM, with the results expected to be declared by the evening.
