IAS Gurkanwal Singh Takes Charge as Assistant Commissioner (Under Training)
- On First Field Posting, Prioritises Public Service, Transparency and Administrative Efficiency

IAS officer Gurkanwal Singh of the 2025 batch assumed charge as Assistant Commissioner (Under Training), Hoshiarpur, today at the District Administrative Complex in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain. This marks his first field posting.
Hailing from Jalandhar district, Gurkanwal Singh holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Thapar University, Patiala. He earned his place in the Indian Administrative Service through hard work and dedication. His father, Satpal Singh Multani, is a retired Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner, while his mother, Paramjit Kaur, is a homemaker.
After taking charge, Gurkamal Singh stated that he would work with complete dedication, honesty and commitment under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain. He emphasised that his priorities would include ensuring transparency in administrative functions, prompt resolution of public grievances, and providing better services to the common people. He added that it would be his responsibility to effectively deliver government welfare schemes to the grassroots level, and he would work tirelessly in this direction.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain extended her best wishes to Gurkanwal Singh for his new role and prayed for his bright administrative future. On the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Parampreet Singh, Assistant Commissioner Gurbreet Kaur, Gurkanwal Singh's parents and other family members were also present.
