Nearly One Crore Rupees Worth Oxen Seized Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha: Telangana Police Action Raises Serious Concerns; Congress Minority Leaders Maintain Silence :

Mr. Amjed Ullah Khan, Spokesman of Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), has strongly condemned the ongoing actions of Telangana Police in seizing oxen being transported by Muslim traders for the purpose of sacrifice ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. He termed the situation as “deeply alarming, discriminatory, and unjustified.”

According to reports, within just one week, oxen worth nearly one crore rupees belonging to Muslim traders have been seized Illegally at various police stations across Telangana.

1) Toopran Police Station – 23 oxen seized; owner booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act

2) Madannapet Police Station – 16 oxen seized; owner booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act

3) RGIA Police Station – 14 oxen seized; owner booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act

4) Raidurgam Police Station – 17 oxen seized; owner booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act

5) L B Nagar Police Station- 8 oxen seized; owner booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act

Mr. Amjed Ullah Khan questioned the selective enforcement of the "Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act", stating that it appears to be invoked only during Eid-ul-Adha. “Why is this law not enforced throughout the year or during other festivals where animals are also transported and used?” he asked.

He further demanded clarification from Sri Anumula Revanth Reddy Cheif Minister Govt of Telangana and Sri Shivdhar Reddy IPS, Director General of Police on the legal basis under which these seizures are being carried out. “Is there any official ban on the transportation or slaughter of oxen in Telangana? If not, under what authority are Muslim traders being targeted?” he questioned.

Mr. Khan expressed serious disappointment over the silence of prominent Congress minority leaders, including Mohammad Azharuddin (Minister for Minorities Welfare, GovtofTelangana), Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Advisor to Chief Minister on Minorities Affairs), Azmath Ullah Hussaini (Chairman Telangana State Wakf Board), Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani (Chairman Telangana Haj Committee), Obaid Ullah Kotwal (Chairman TMFC), Taher Bin Hamdan (Chairman Telangana Urdu Academy) etc, “Their silence in the face of such injustice is unacceptable and raises serious questions about their commitment to the community,” he said.

He also criticized Asaduddin Owaisi (MP) & President AIMIM and his party for allegedly neglecting pressing local issues while focusing on political activities in other states. “The people who voted in good faith are being left without support at a crucial time,” he remarked and has left this major issue to an non-educated MLC who simply making reels and claiming that he has released Ox but ground zero the story is different.

Additionally, Mr. Khan questioned the silence of non-political religious organizations such as Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (Telangana Unit), Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (both factions), Sunni Ulema's and Scholar's stating that their lack of response is disappointing. “These organizations actively appeal for votes during elections but fail to speak up when the community faces harassment and injustice,” he added.

Mr Khan demanded immediate intervention by the state government to:

1) Stop arbitrary seizures of animals
2) Withdraw cases filed against innocent traders
3) Ensure protection for those engaged in lawful trade
4( Take strict action against any vigilante elements involved in harassment

“Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done. Selective targeting and silence from those in power will only deepen mistrust,” Mr. Amjed Ullah Khan concluded.
