Assistant Commissioner Reviews Preparations for Civil Defence Blackout Mock Drill Exercise

The district administration is conducting a Civil Defence Blackout Mock Drill Exercise in Hoshiarpur on Friday, April 24, 2026, to effectively handle emergency situations during any untoward incident. In this regard, Assistant Commissioner Parampreet Singh held a meeting with officials from relevant departments on Thursday at the district administrative complex to review preparations. He directed that all arrangements for the blackout mock drill exercise be completed in advance.
The Assistant Commissioner briefed departments including the Power Corporation, Health Department, Civil Defence, Fire Brigade, Police Department, Municipal Corporation, and others on their responsibilities. He appealed to Hoshiarpur residents to switch off all lights in their homes and shops completely from 8 PM to 8:20 PM (20 minutes) upon hearing the siren. He specifically emphasized turning off lights on shop signboards during this period. He informed that a mock drill will also be held at the local DAV College during this time.
The Assistant Commissioner urged the general public not to panic, stressing that this is only a mock blackout exercise. He appealed to all citizens to extend full cooperation to the administration. On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur, DSP Kartar Singh, and officers from other departments were also present.
