Dr. Ahona Pandaalleged that her name was removed from the electoral roll even after she presented multiple identity documents during a SIR

Dr. Ahona Panda, Assistant Professor of History at Claremont McKenna College in California, has alleged that her name was removed from the electoral roll even after she presented multiple identity documents during a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearing.

In a post on X, Panda said she attended the hearing with all required documents, including her Indian passport, PAN card, voter ID, Aadhaar card and details of Indian bank accounts. Despite submitting these records, she said, authorities still deleted her name from the voter list.

Her claim comes at a time when concerns are being raised in several parts of the country over voter deletions during electoral roll revisions, with activists and opposition parties questioning whether due process is being consistently followed.

The issue has renewed debate around voter rights and administrative transparency, particularly in cases where individuals assert that they complied with documentation requirements but still faced disenfranchisement.
