Smriti Irani Engages Women Professionals at Ganges Meet in Kolkata

Kolkata, April 2026: Senior leader and former Union Minister Smriti Irani attended a “Women Professionals’ Meet on the Ganges” at Outram Ghat, bringing together a diverse group of women professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.

Held along the banks of the Ganges, the interactive session was described by attendees as a grounded and empowering gathering focused on leadership, collaboration, and the evolving role of women in society. Participants engaged in open dialogue on professional growth, challenges faced by women in workplaces, and opportunities for greater representation in decision-making roles.

During her visit to Kolkata, Irani also addressed broader concerns related to women’s safety and security. She met with the family of a recent victim in a reported crime case, emphasizing the need for accountability and stronger safeguards for women.

Highlighting policy initiatives, Irani reiterated her support for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, describing it as a significant step toward ensuring women’s representation in governance. She termed the legislation a “historic correction” in strengthening democratic participation and empowering women across sectors.

The event at Outram Ghat forms part of a broader outreach initiative aimed at engaging women professionals and encouraging their active participation in leadership and public.
