Telangana RTC bus services to be hit as workers’ to go on strike from midnight of April 22

RTC JAC says talks with government and TGSRTC failed. For their part, the TGSRTC management and the Telangana government sought four weeks’ time for a four-member committee comprising top bureaucrats to examine demands and grievances.

RTC Joint Action Committee’s talks with the State government and the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) management broke down on Tuesday (April 21) night, with the former announcing that the workers’ strike would begin on at midnight leading to a disruption of thousands of bus services.

Representatives of workers’ unions who were a part of the Joint Action Committee, such as chairman Eduru Venkanna and office bearer Thomas Reddy, and the TGSRTC management were engaged in discussions behind closed doors over long pending demands like workers’ welfare issues, including pay revision, matters concerning procurement and operating to electric buses, a merger of staff with the Telangana government, and conducting of union elections. However, JAC members said that a consensus could not reached.
