Bhagwat Katha Emphasizes Cow Protection and Krishna's Divine Leelas in Hoshiarpur

On the fifth day of the Shrimad Bhagwat Saptahik Katha Gyan Yagya, organized by Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan at Roshan Ground from April 14 to 20 (evenings 7 PM to 10 PM), renowned Bhagwat exponent Sadhvi Sushri Vaishnavi Bharti Ji, a disciple of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, vividly narrated Lord Krishna's divine leelas. She explained how Krishna, as Kanhaiya Gopal, incarnated to uphold dharma, performed cow service (gosheva) and cow worship (gopujan), and taught humanity the profound importance of the cow.
Drawing from the Mahabharata, she cited numerous examples inspiring the honor and protection of Gau Mata. The Vishnu Dharmottar Purana states that serving the cow pleases 33 crore deities. Cow's panchagavya, especially gomutra, has been revered since Vedic times for treating over 400 ailments. Ancient farmers sprinkled gomutra on soil before sowing seeds in a ritual called gomutra sanskar to purify the earth. Cow milk is described as sattvik, enhancing intellect and curing diseases. The cow is called 'mother' for its spiritual and scientific significance.
Yet, today, this 'mother' faces slaughter. Heroes like Mangal Pandey sacrificed their lives for her protection—we must now act to safeguard and nurture her.
Sadhvi Ji highlighted Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji's 'Kamdhenu Project', under which Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan is committed to conserving indigenous Indian cow breeds, improving genetics, and preserving endangered species. "If the cow survives, the nation will prosper," she asserted.
She beautifully unveiled the secrets of the Govardhan Leela: Seeing preparations for Indra Yagya, young Krishna questioned Nanda Baba and villagers, urging them to worship Govardhan Mountain and the earth instead. Representing the nurturing earth, vegetation, and water, Govardhan was worshipped with 56 dishes (chhappan bhog). Offended, Indra unleashed seven days of torrential rain, but Krishna lifted the mountain on his little finger, shielding Gokul.
Studying Bhagwat Mahapurana reveals Krishna teaching Nanda Baba and villagers the principle of karma: It determines joy, sorrow, fear, and safety. Humans are born and die by their karma. "Karma is God itself. We are all parts of Narayan. Perform karma not for fame, but as worship," she said, quoting: "Kar se karma karo vidhi nana, chitt rakho jahaan daya nidhana." Simple in words, it's challenging in practice.
A perfect Guru can reveal the divine in the heart instantly and manifest Hari's eternal name in the breath. Though God has many names, the inner name leads to moksha.
The katha began with chief yajmans Manish Gupta (Billa Bricks), Kusha Gupta, Rahul Gupta, and daily yajmans Jagdish Agarwal, Umesh Gupta, Nity Gupta performing Bhagwat puja with families.
