Breaking News: Maoist Commander Sahdeo Mahto Killed in Jharkhand Encounter
A major anti-Naxal operation in Jharkhand resulted in the killing of four hardcore Maoists, including wanted commander Sahdeo Mahto alias Anuj, during an intense encounter in the Khapia forest area of Hazaribagh on Friday.
Security forces, including the elite CoBRA 209 Battalion and local police, launched the operation based on precise intelligence inputs. The encounter began around 2 PM and lasted nearly 30 minutes, ending with all four Maoists neutralised.
Among those killed were Sahdeo Mahto, who had escaped during the 2011 Chaibasa jailbreak, his wife Natasha (a senior Maoist leader), and area commanders Budhan Karmali and Ranjeet Ganjhu.
A significant cache of weapons was recovered, including two AK-series rifles, one Colt AR-15, and one INSAS rifle.
