MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa today honoured students excelling in various fields at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Railway Mandi, and said the Punjab government is equipping every government school with state-of-the-art facilities to prepare students for the competitive era.
Speaking on the completion of a virtual reality laboratory built at a cost of ₹8.40 lakh, an NSQF lab at ₹2.20 lakh, and structural strengthening of the school building at ₹6.48 lakh—totaling around ₹20 lakh—Jimpa stated these new laboratories will provide modern education facilities, enabling students to gain practical knowledge alongside bookish learning.
He noted that the Railway Mandi school has a glorious history of producing successful alumni who have excelled in diverse fields, filling the people of Hoshiarpur with pride. The Punjab government remains committed to providing all necessary support to the school, which will prove effective for the students' bright future, he added.
Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann's leadership, the Punjab government has given special priority to education and health sectors, achieving unprecedented progress that is evidently benefiting the public, Jimpa said.
He highlighted that principals are being trained abroad, while students receive vocational skills training to make them self-reliant.
Due to significant improvements in teaching standards in government schools, 305 students from Punjab cleared JEE Mains and 845 qualified NEET in 2026—a remarkable achievement, he pointed out.
The MLA also felicitated top-performing students in academics and sports.
On the occasion, Principal Rajan Arora and staff distributed school bags, pens, and registers to students. Vice-Principal Puneet, staff, and students welcomed the dignitaries.
