Delimitation bill will be defeated in Parliament: Cong leader Chidambaram

SIVAGANGA (TAMIL NADU): Apr, 17 Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Friday asserted that the proposed delimitation bill will be defeated in Parliament.

Addressing reporters here, he said, "Sonia Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, M K Stalin, and Akhilesh Yadav will ensure its defeat," and added that the bill cannot be passed if all opposition leaders unite.

Describing the projected increase of Tamil Nadu's representation in Lok Sabha from 39 to 59 due to the constitutional amendment bill as an "illusion", the former union minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were presenting "half-truths" on seat increase.
