Struggle for Survival: Poor Patients Hit by Lack of Affordable Blood Test

Many poor patients are facing serious difficulties due to the unavailability of essential blood tests in government hospitals and diagnostic centers. Tests such as Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, and thyroid function are either not available or require patients to visit private labs, where the cost is often too high for low-income families.

Patients report long waiting times, lack of proper guidance, and repeated visits to hospitals without getting the required tests done. For daily wage workers and economically weaker sections, even basic medical testing becomes a financial burden.

Healthcare experts say that early diagnosis is important to prevent serious health issues, but limited access to affordable testing is putting many lives at risk. There is growing concern that without proper facilities and timely action, the gap between healthcare access for the rich and the poor will continue to widen.

Authorities are being urged to improve laboratory facilities in public hospitals and ensure that essential diagnostic services are accessible and affordable for everyone.
