Government Urged to Order High-Level Probe into Massive Corruption Fears in Municipal Works/ Tikshan Sood

Former Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sood issued a press note today, raising serious concerns over suspected large-scale corruption in the development works undertaken by the Municipal Corporation.
Local MLA is hastily laying foundation stones for various development projects funded by the corporation, but there is no oversight to check the quality of these works. Many contractors are using substandard materials to make undue profits, which would not be possible without the connivance of departmental officials.
In Mohalla Ramgarh, while tiles are being laid in the lanes, the bricks used for water drainage are of the poorest quality. However, tender conditions under CSR norms explicitly require the use of high-grade bricks. This issue has been highlighted in newspapers, yet it seems the officers' ears remain deaf to these complaints.
There is a difference of one-and-a-half to two times between the cost of substandard materials being used and the rates specified for high-quality materials in the tenders. Even the tiles in the lanes are of inferior quality, which means these development works will not last their expected lifespan, leaving the public to bear the losses. These projects are funded by the hard-earned money of taxpayers, yet the benefits are being creamed off by contractors doing shoddy work and the officials overseeing them.
Sood demanded that the government order a high-level investigation, warning that it could uncover a major scam.
