In a significant development in Hoshiarpur's politics today, senior leader and two-time former BJP councillor Surekha Barjatia announced her decision to join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), along with her supporters. She was drawn to AAP's policies and the development works in the city, particularly those led by MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa.
At a simple yet dignified welcome event, MLA Bram Shankar jimpa warmly received Surekha Barjatia into the party and honoured her. He stated that AAP's priorities are public welfare, transparency, and development, and the addition of an experienced leader like Surekha will further strengthen the party.
In her address, Surekha Barjatia said she had worked in the BJP for a long time but now believes AAP is the platform that truly understands and resolves the problems of ordinary people. She praised the notable progress in Hoshiarpur in education, health, and infrastructure, which influenced her decision.
Mayor Surinder Kumar, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Choudhary, and other party workers present at the event enthusiastically welcomed all new members. They expressed confidence that their joining will bolster the party in the coming times.
On this occasion, supporters including Parveen Kumar Barjatia, Kanta Devi, Prithvi Raj, Mehar Singh, Balvir Ram, Harinder Singh, Labh Chand, Ram Gopal, Ashok Kumar, Kamaljeet Kumar, Sukhwinder Kaur, and Satpal also took AAP membership.
