SSP Poonch Visits Border Areas, Holds Public Durbar to Address Local Concerns

Poonch, April 11, 2026:

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Sh. Shafkat Hussain (JKPS), accompanied by DySP Headquarters Poonch Sh. Neeraj Sharma and DySP Operations Sh. Azhar Amin, today visited forward border areas along the fence and interacted with the local population.

During the visit, a Public Durbar was organized wherein the SSP Poonch patiently listened to the grievances and issues raised by the residents. The locals highlighted concerns related to civic amenities, security, and cross-border challenges. SSP Poonch assured the public that all genuine grievances would be taken up with the concerned departments for prompt redressal.

While addressing the gathering, the SSP emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination between the police and the public, especially in sensitive border areas. He sensitized the locals about the risks and consequences associated with activities such as illegal cross-border trade, drug trafficking, and weapon smuggling.

The residents were also made aware of the importance of vigilance along the Line of Control (LoC) and were encouraged to promptly share any suspicious activities with the police and security forces.

The visit was well received by the local population, who appreciated the proactive outreach and engagement by District Police Poonch.

District Police Poonch remains committed to ensuring peace, security, and welfare of the border residents.
